  • John S Lohan

    Financial Adviser

I have over 45 years experience in Financial Services. I worked for the Refuge Assurance Company for 14 years and was promoted four times whilst with them. I have always wanted to run my own business so in 1988 I partnered with Mark Waterhouse to start Airevalley Insurance Services. In 2003 we became Independent Directly Authorised and rebranded the company name to Airevalley IFA Ltd, as it remains today. In my role as Managing Director my focus has been very much focussed on sales and growing the business.

My hobbies are mainly sport and charity work and working for the local community. I am the Vice Chairman of Silsden AFC, a semi pro football club who play in the North East Counties Premier league. We run a very active and growing Junior section with children ranging from 5 to open age and have over 300 members. I am a big believer in getting children into sport from an early age really helps them develop and grow and teaches them to mix and work together.

I am also Chairman of Silsden Sports Club and was the chairman of Silsden Business Watch for quite a few years. I love any sport and like to keep fit by walking our lovely brown chocolate Labrador (Wispa) I also love watching Leeds United.

I am married with three grown up boys, my wife Dorothy also works in the business and has been by my side supporting myself and Mark for the last 32 years. I still get a buzz out of meeting new clients and existing ones, I think being an advisor must the best job in the world.

I suppose life will never actually be the same following Covid 19 and people will need good financial advice now more than ever. Somebody asked me “What will you do when you retire? “. “Probably start another business” I REPLIED!

  • Mark J Waterhouse

    Financial Adviser

I have 38 years industry experience, starting work with a national company ‘The Refuge Assurance’ back in 1981.

John Lohan and I set up our own Financial advice practise in 1988 called Airevalley Insurance Services as appointed representatives to Guardian Royal Exchange. We then recruited two other IFA’s, and in 2003 we became Independent directly authorised and rebranded the company name to Airevalley IFA Ltd, as it remains today.

I was one of two directors, and while I was advising my clients I was also responsible for the compliance of the company and the general running of the day to day affairs.

Over the years we have built up a solid client bank of around 600 people between the 4 of us, and in May 2020 we joined ‘Sovereign Financial Partners’ as appointed representatives, keeping the Airevalley IFA Business name.

I am a keen sportsman and enjoy playing golf and snooker but like to watch all sports and also love a pint or two of real ale.
